Participant Reviews

In Their Own Words

SR

Siti Rahmah binti Zulkifli

Melaka — Workshop participant

"I wasn't sure what to expect, honestly. I thought it would be another talk about saving more and spending less. But the half-day was genuinely different — we spent a lot of time just noticing things, which sounds simple but actually wasn't. I came away with one small experiment to try at home, and that felt manageable."

KH

Khairul Hisham bin Razali

Melaka — Literacy Programme

"The multi-week programme was a bigger commitment than I expected — both in time and in reflection. By week three I was starting to see patterns in my own choices I hadn't really noticed before. The group sessions helped a lot; hearing other people describe similar things made it feel less personal and more... human."

LY

Lim Yi Shan

Melaka — Toolkit & Community

"The toolkit was what I needed — something I could use in my own time without the pressure of a scheduled class. The trackers are really well-designed, not overwhelming. The community board was a bonus; I wasn't expecting to enjoy reading other people's reflections as much as I did."

NA

Norzaheera binti Abdul Aziz

Melaka — Workshop participant

"What stood out was that nobody tried to sell me anything. After going to a few 'financial literacy' events that turned into product pitches, this was a real relief. The facilitator was knowledgeable without being preachy. I'd bring a friend next time."

TK

Tan Kian Wei

Melaka — Literacy Programme

"I finished the programme last month and I'm still using the reflection journal. The weekly group sessions were the best part — small enough that everyone could contribute. My only wish is that the programme ran a little longer, but I understand why it's structured the way it is."

Raihanah binti Mokhtar

Melaka — Toolkit & Community

"I joined the toolkit mainly for the worksheets, but the community board became the part I look forward to every week. It's moderated well — nobody gives unsolicited advice, people just share what they noticed. It's refreshing."

Participant Journeys

A Closer Look at Three Experiences

The Starting Point

Azrul, 34 — Teacher from Ayer Keroh

Azrul noticed he reached the end of every month with less money than expected — despite a stable salary and what he thought were reasonable spending habits. He'd tried budgeting apps before but they never seemed to stick.

The Programme

Azrul joined the Behaviour Literacy Programme and spent six weeks exploring the triggers that drove his spending — mostly stress-related, mostly evening purchases. The group sessions helped him name the pattern without shame.

What Changed

He didn't overhaul his finances — but he became more aware of the moments that led to impulsive decisions and found a few small substitutions that felt natural rather than restrictive.

"I didn't expect to understand myself better. That was the unexpected part."
The Starting Point

Puan Hasrina, 41 — Office Manager from Melaka Tengah

Puan Hasrina had read several personal finance books but found the advice hard to apply in practice. She wasn't sure if that was a knowledge gap or something else, and wanted a space to explore that question.

The Programme

She attended the Behaviour & Money Workshop first, then enrolled in the Habits Toolkit. The toolkit's self-paced format suited her schedule, and she used the habit trackers consistently over three months.

What Changed

She identified a specific category of spending (social obligations and gift-giving) that had always felt invisible but represented a significant portion of monthly outgoings — and started to approach it more intentionally.

"The workshop gave me permission to be curious instead of guilty."
